BIOGRAPHY
A California native, Roya Shanks is now a New York-based actor
actively pursuing a career in theater, film and television. She
holds a BA in Theater from Yale University and has also completed
two years of intensive training with Maggie Flanigan, a legendary
teacher in the Meisner technique.
In New York, Roya has appeared Off and Off-off Broadway with such
companies as Urban Stages, Prospect Theater Company and The Looking
Glass Theatre. At the same time, she has continued to nurture her
love of classical theater through summer work with the Texas Shakespeare
Festival and the Summer Theater of New Canaan. She made her national
television debut in 2004 as vixen Jillian Masters in the daytime
drama One Life to Live. Roya has also enjoyed opportunities
to perform internationally in Israel, South Africa, Turkey and China.
